Cat Hideout

For the little ones in our lives, this little hideout is designed to look stunning on your floor or counter, while providing a peaceful respite for your cat. It’s a win-win, really. Made in the traditional Appalachian style, the spacious hideout is made using a hand split white oak frame, and is woven in with ash, and is then completed with a hand sewn mustard 100% linen cushion with hand carved white oak buttons.

About the material:
I mindfully hand-select each White Oak tree from my land in the Catskill Mountains in New York State, then carefully split each log by hand using only an axe and a knife to create thin, pliable strips. This Lost Art comes from the Appalachian tradition, with it’s origins in Cumbrian spelk basketry. This is a one-of-a-kind piece takes approximately 28 hours to painstakingly make by hand.
